Vegan Sourdough French Toast With Rose Water and Oranges

Crisp yet custardy slices with a hint of floral sweetness from the rose water and tanginess from the gorgeous oranges. The oranges pair so well with the rose flavor here. Try this new French toast variation..you are going to love it!

Ingredients
1 cup plant milk
1 Tbsp corn starch
1 Tbsp ground flaxseeds
2 tsp good grade rose water
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp maple syrup or sweetener of choice
6-8 slices of sourdough bread

4 tsp unsalted vegan butter for cooking (I use @floraplantus)

For serving
Coarsely chopped toasted unsalted pistachios, as needed
Fresh sliced oranges, as needed (I used naval, cara cara, and blood oranges)

1. Whisk together the milk, cornstarch, baking powder, ground flaxseeds, rose water, maple syrup, in a bowl and set aside for 5 minutes

2. Heat a non-stick or cast iron skillet to medium-low, and add some vegan butter to coat the skillet.

3. Dip the bread in the batter and let soak for about 7-10 seconds, then lift slowly, gently shaking off the excess, and cook the slice for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown, flip and cook for another 3 minutes.

4. Repeat with more slices, depending on the size of your pan

5. Transfer to a serving place. Serve immediately with powdered sugar, if you like, freshly sliced oranges, toasted pistachios, and maple syrup
